What “Lexan Equivalent” Actually Means
Lexan® is SABIC’s trade name for polycarbonate — the polymer itself is the same material produced by every major resin maker. What determines sheet quality is not the logo on the pallet but four things procurement can verify: virgin (not recycled) resin, the co-extruded UV layer, thickness and optical tolerances, and the factory’s quality system.
Bakway buys virgin resin from several leading producers, SABIC among them. If your project is specified against a Lexan grade, tell us in the RFQ: we match the resin family, run the order on SABIC resin where required, and document resin brand and batch on the mill certificate. Production is IATF 16949 conformity for polycarbonate sheet processing, excluding product design; ISO 9001 renewal evidence pending with a written warranty of up to 10 years for specified UV-protected outdoor sheets, subject to terms.

Lexan Sheet Sizes: 4×8 ft and Cut-to-Size
The common US “lexan sheets 4×8” format (48″ × 96″ / 1,220 × 2,440 mm) ships as a standard cut. Master width is 2,100 mm for solid and multiwall sheet, with length cut to order within container limits — so distributors can order exact project sizes instead of paying for offcuts.

Is a generic sheet really as good as Lexan?
When it is extruded from virgin resin with a co-extruded UV layer and held to the same tolerances — yes, it is the same polymer performing to the same test standards. Ask any supplier for the resin source, mill certificate and UV warranty in writing; we provide all three.
Can you produce on SABIC resin specifically?
Yes. We source virgin resin from several leading producers including SABIC. If your spec requires it, the resin brand is locked on the production order and stated on the mill certificate.
Do you supply 4×8 lexan-size sheets?
Yes — 1,220 × 2,440 mm (4×8 ft) is a standard cut, and any length within container limits can be cut to order from 2,100 mm master width.
How much lower is the price vs brand-name sheet?
