When Textured Polycarbonate Is the Wrong Choice
- You need an undistorted view. Haze of 95% is engineered to destroy image clarity. For a clear window or a viewing panel, order clear solid sheet instead.
- The surface gets abrasive cleaning or heavy handling. Pencil hardness is B–HB (ASTM D3363), softer than acrylic. Specify a hard-coated grade at the RFQ stage — it cannot be added after extrusion.
- Aggressive chemicals are involved. Polycarbonate is attacked by some solvents and alkaline cleaners. Tell us the cleaning regime and we will confirm compatibility or point you to a different material.
- Your code requires glass. Where a specification names glass for fire or safety reasons, textured PC is not a substitute, whatever its impact strength.
